Tornado Cash developer Alex Pertsev to be released from incarceration with monitoring conditions.

Tornado Cash developer Alex Pertsev is expected to be released from incarceration after nearly nine months behind bars. Pertsev was taken into custody in August of the previous year by Dutch authorities on allegations of involvement in money laundering via the crypto mixing service Tornado Cash.
Cointelegraph verified this information with sources familiar with the situation, indicating that Pertsev is anticipated to return home by April 26, which coincidentally is also his birthday. The conditional release under supervision allows the imprisoned Tornado Cash developer to await trial from his residence.
Pertsev’s arrest occurred shortly after the United States Treasury Department added numerous Tornado Cash addresses to the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) sanctions list on August 8.
The conditional release will require Pertsev to be monitored with an ankle bracelet, as stated by Pertsev’s wife, who spoke with Cointelegraph and expressed her relief regarding the development:
“I believe that now we will be able to fully prepare the defense and prove that Alex did not do anything that he is accused of, and I am very sorry for the wasted time that he spent in prison. It had a powerful effect on him and on me; it cardinally changed our lives. But the main thing is that he will be free soon.”
Previously, in November, a Dutch court rejected the developer’s request for release under supervision, citing the prosecution’s claim that Pertsev represented a flight risk. The prosecution has maintained that Pertsev played a key role in the operations of Tornado Cash. His bail request was denied again in February.
UPDATE: Alexey Pertsev, Tornado Cash Dev, bail denied again. His next hearing is in April.

Crypto mixers or mixing services are platforms frequently utilized to obscure the origins of cryptocurrency transactions. The purpose of these mixers is to render transactions anonymous and challenging to trace. These services typically combine one cryptocurrency transaction with others and distribute them to various wallet addresses. Tornado Cash was among the most widely used mixing services prior to the imposition of sanctions.
The announcement regarding Pertsev’s conditional release was met with celebration within the crypto community. The founder of Crypto Canal, a crypto educator who attended the hearing, remarked that the most crucial aspect is that Pertsev “can walk around and work on his defense, something that was virtually impossible while detained.”
