During a recent ask-me-anything (AMA) session on Reddit’s r/cryptocurrency subreddit, members of a task force from the United States Secret Service disclosed their ownership of cryptocurrency, their NFT collection, and their acknowledgment of blockchain technology’s potential in addressing financial crime.

Unlike some regulators who perceive cryptocurrencies as instruments for fraudsters, the task force conveyed their excitement regarding the transparent and public characteristics of blockchains. They referred to it as an “incredible opportunity” for law enforcement agencies to accurately trace fund movements, supporting the battle against illegal activities.

Milady NFT floor price rises following Elon Musk tweet

On May 10, a tweet from Elon Musk showcasing artwork from the Milady NFT collection triggered a rise in the floor price of Milady NFTs. The price initially peaked at 7.3 Ether () before settling at 5.69 ETH.

The Milady collection, developed by the digital arts group Remilia, consists of 10,000 anime profile picture NFTs inspired by street-style cultures. Artist Charlotte Fang significantly contributed to the design process.

The term “Milady” cleverly references the phrase “my lady,” which is traditionally used to address women of nobility. However, the internet has humorously linked this phrase to excessive chivalry and “nice guys.”

Primordial NFT? An attempt to sell a JPEG for BTC occurred months before Bitcoin Pizza Day

On May 14, a tweet from developer Udi Wertheimer sparked a brief excitement on Crypto Twitter. The tweet proposed that the first real-world purchase made with Bitcoin might have been for a JPEG image, challenging the widely accepted narrative that Bitcoin’s first purchase was for pizza.

The shared screenshot, dated Jan. 24, 2010, predates the notable Bitcoin Pizza Day by four months. It displays a user named Sabunir attempting to sell an image on the Bitcointalk forum for 500 BTC, which was valued at around $1 at that time. The screenshot also indicates that Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, was involved in facilitating the sale.

LG Electronics submits patent for NFT-trading TV

The South Korean firm LG Electronics has submitted a patent application for a blockchain-enabled smart TV that allows for NFT trading. The application was published in May in the World Intellectual Property Organization’s database.

LG’s proposed technology seeks to enable seamless connectivity among devices, cryptocurrency wallets, and an NFT market server, thus facilitating transactions. The smart TV features onscreen QR codes when linked to an NFT market server, allowing users to execute transactions through a cryptocurrency wallet.
