Former US President Donald Trump expressed strong backing for the cryptocurrency sector, highlighting that the US must spearhead the global crypto competition over China or any other nation.

Trump Advocates for US Dominance in Crypto

In an interview featured on Bloomberg, Trump emphasized the strategic significance of cryptocurrency for the country.

“If I disregard it, it will be dominated by another nation, likely China. They are quite advanced in that field, so that is something to consider. What I desire, once more, is what benefits the country,” Trump remarked.

The Republican presidential candidate asserted that cryptocurrency is here to stay and revealed intentions to introduce another collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT).

“I’ve done it three times and I’m going to do it again because people want me to do it again,” Trump stated.

Previous NFT launches have featured trading card-themed NFTs that provide buyers with benefits such as pieces of his suit or tie and invitations to exclusive dinners with him.

Trump conveyed optimism regarding the prospects of the US crypto sector, acknowledging that while it is still developing, it has a solid foundation. He also mentioned his growing understanding of the industry, referencing his engagements with “senior” industry figures.

Trump, who previously held unfavorable views on cryptocurrencies, has recently shifted to supporting the sector.

In May, his campaign began accepting cryptocurrency donations and raised $3 million in the last quarter, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. Trump also pledged to back Bitcoin miners if he returns to the presidency.
