U.S. Federal Reserve Officials Support Additional Increase in Interest Rates0

  • The US Federal Reserve may need to continue its rate increases due to inflationary pressures.
  • Peter Brandt, an experienced trader, asserts that the could potentially decline to $24,800.

In light of the challenging debt ceiling situation, US Federal Reserve officials are contemplating additional rate hikes, including the leaders of the Federal Reserve Banks of Minneapolis and St. Louis. The debt ceiling agreement is expected to influence Bitcoin’s price as the US Treasury will issue government bonds to restore funds depleted during the financial crisis.

The US Federal Reserve may be compelled to sustain its rate increases due to inflation and a constrained labor market. The remarks made by Fed Chair Jerome Powell last week did not provide clear direction.

Support for Interest Rate Increase

Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan is not alone in advocating for further interest rate hikes; Fed Governor Philip Jefferson, New York Fed President John Williams, Federal Reserve Board Governor Michelle Bowman, and others share this view.

On May 22nd, James Bullard, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, indicated that the Fed would likely need to raise interest rates twice this year before reversing course. In a decisive action, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has raised the target interest rate to the 5–5.25% range.

Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari concurs that interest rates must exceed 6% to control inflation. He noted that since inflation remains below the target, the Fed’s choice not to increase rates in June should not be interpreted as a pause or a shift in strategy.

Peter Brandt, an experienced trader, suggests that the Bitcoin price could fall below the $26,800 threshold, reaching $24,800. He believes that Bitcoin will rebound from this decline and continue to rise. Additionally, he remains confident that Bitcoin will achieve $40,000 in the near future.
