Tyler Winklevoss Claims White House Administration Is Neglecting the Cryptocurrency Community

In an extensive X post on Saturday, Tyler Winklevoss, co-founder of the Gemini crypto exchange, accused the current White House Administration of a lack of willingness to engage with the crypto community.
In June, @cameron and I were invited to a crypto round table in DC with the White House in attendance. Two weeks later, we were disinvited because we publicly endorsed @realDonaldTrump. The Biden-Harris Administration did not want us there and refused to attend the event if we…

Tyler noted that in June, he and his twin brother Cameron were uninvited from a crypto round table in Washington that was expected to include the White House. Their invitation was revoked following their endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
Tyler stated:
“The Biden-Harris Administration did not want us there and refused to attend the event if we were present.”
The Winklevoss twins contributed over $1 million each to Trump’s campaign, labeling him the “pro-crypto choice.” Subsequently, they received a combined refund of over $300,000 for exceeding the federal donation limit.
According to Tyler:
“…it [rescinded invite] perfectly captures this Administration’s unwillingness to sincerely engage with our industry beyond paying lip service.”
He further remarked that to engage with the sector after “waging war” against it for four years, the government should have been interested in hearing from “the most vocal and critical voices,” even if their opinions were already formed.
Tyler criticized the Administration’s actions, describing them as “petty.” He asserted that disinviting dissenters reflects “fake engagement that only serves to create a meaningless echo chamber.”
Tyler Questions Who Is In Charge At The White House
Tyler speculated about who made the decision to disinvite the former Olympic rowers. Since President Biden did not attend the event, Tyler inferred that it was unlikely he was involved. He questioned who is truly in control at the White House.
He wrote:
“So, who exactly is in charge here? … Who are these people and how can we look them in the eye and get assurances that the next 4 years will be different? I’d love to know.”
Tyler also mentioned that perhaps Harris, who declined the invitation to speak at Bitcoin 2024 this weekend, might have wanted to participate in the event. He speculated that “the same people who installed her a week ago would not let her.”
The issue is that “we don’t really know” who’s in charge at the White House, Tyler remarked. He added that the government needs to demonstrate “real concrete action” before the elections in November. This call for action is a ‘non-partisan’ perspective, Tyler noted.
The Crypto Industry Needs To Know The Next Sec Chair
Tyler Winklevoss emphasized that the industry requires “tangible change” and needs to know the next SEC chair before the November elections.
According to Tyler, the crypto sector should unite in demanding clarity on who will be the next chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This announcement should occur prior to the November elections.
“We need to see tangible change and a [sic] proof of commitment to treating our industry fairly and dealing with it in good faith going forward.”
Tyler concluded his post by stating that the industry must insist that both parties embrace it, treat it equitably, and ensure that “America is the best home in the world for crypto.”
