On-chain Researcher ZachXBT Assists Atomic Wallet User in Recovering $1 Million0

  • Many users have reported financial losses, contrary to the company’s assertion.
  • The specifics of the recovery process, however, remain undisclosed.

According to the company’s statement, less than one percent of Atomic Wallet’s monthly active users were impacted by the theft that resulted in a loss of $35 million from customers since June 2. Following the incident, Atomic Wallet has intensified its collaboration with independent blockchain analysts to trace and recover the misappropriated funds.

A small number of verified fraudulent Twitter accounts attempted to exploit the situation by falsely claiming to represent Atomic Wallet, disseminating phishing links that purported to help users recover their stolen funds.

Recovery Method Not Disclosed Yet

Additionally, on-chain researcher ZachXBT stated that he assisted a victim in recovering $1 million. However, the specifics of the recovery method have not been disclosed; ZachXBT mentioned, “Will share in time but best not to yet.”

Despite the announcement made by Atomic Wallet, many users have reported financial losses. The community has also criticized the company for attempting to downplay the situation.

ZachXBT’s research indicates that one individual lost a total of $7.95 million in Tether on the Tron blockchain during the Atomic Wallet incident. The latest report suggests that $17 million has been lost due to the top five losses.

In a separate incident, the Twitter account of Peter Schiff, a prominent critic of cryptocurrencies and proponent of gold, was hacked and used to promote a fraudulent gold coin scheme. The hacker utilized Peter Schiff’s Twitter account to announce the official launch of Gold, a cryptocurrency asset, aiming to enhance the community and bridge the gap between fiat and digital currencies.
