HONG KONG — Thomas Lee, chairman of ether treasury firm BitMine Immersion (BMRN) indicated that the leading financial institution for the next generation may arise not from Wall Street but from YouTube.

During his remarks at Consensus Hong Kong on Wednesday, Lee suggested that MrBeast’s entry into the banking sector could establish the video creator as the primary financial platform for Gen Z and Gen Alpha, serving as a significant gateway to cryptocurrency.

MrBeast’s enterprise, in which BitMine has invested $200 million, recently reached an agreement to acquire neobank Step as a strategic move to adapt to how younger generations will engage with financial services.

"Beast has the potential to become the financial institution of their generation," Lee remarked.

He drew comparisons to how Charles Schwab catered to baby boomers, how BlackRock and Blackstone drew the investments of Generation X, and how Robinhood appealed to Millennials.

He pointed out that Gen Z and Gen Alpha encompass roughly 120 million individuals in the U.S. alone, while MrBeast has amassed an audience exceeding a billion followers worldwide.

"These consumers are not necessarily affluent at present," Lee acknowledged, but they are expected to participate in a significant wealth transfer over the next decade.

If Step becomes their main financial platform, he contended, it could place BitMine and the investment in MrBeast’s enterprise at the heart of a generation that perceives digital assets as integral to their financial existence.
