More than 25 prominent Bitcoin firms collaborate to create an official Bitcoin emoji.

- Over 25 prominent Bitcoin firms have collaborated to launch an official Bitcoin (BTC) emoji.
Today, over 25 prominent Bitcoin organizations united under the ‘Bitcoin Deserves an Emoji’ initiative.
Led by Nexo, this worldwide effort is focused on obtaining an official Bitcoin emoji for digital keyboards globally, marking a significant advancement in acknowledging Bitcoin’s diverse role in society as an innovative technology, a currency, and a cultural icon.
“Bitcoin’s evolution showcases an extraordinary combination of innovation and community,” remarked Kosta Kantchev, Co-founder & Executive Chairman of Nexo.
“It’s time for its importance to be acknowledged universally, beginning with a symbol we all recognize – an emoji. Join us in making history.”
The coalition includes a varied group of participants featuring notable organizations such as Bitcoin Magazine’s parent company BTC Inc, Bitget, Brink, Chainalysis, Hacken, Nansen, and Unstoppable Domains.

Together, they seek to honor and promote Bitcoin’s incorporation into the digital vocabulary through the universal medium of emojis.
“Bitcoin is global money for everyone; it requires a universal emoji for all individuals, young and old, to utilize,” stated BTC Inc CEO David Bailey.
The campaign launches with a 50-day petition hosted on Change.org, culminating in an official submission to the Unicode Consortium during the 2024 submission period.
This unified effort represents a renewed drive for acknowledgment, building on earlier attempts and emphasizing the increasing significance of Bitcoin in everyday life.
Emojis have progressed from their inception in Japan in the 1990s to become essential components of digital communication, crossing linguistic and geographical divides.
According to Unicode, 92% of internet users globally utilize emojis in their online communications.
