More than 12 Million Ordinal Inscriptions Documented on Bitcoin Blockchain
- More than 300,000 pending transactions are awaiting validation.
- 90.7% of all inscriptions consist of text, whereas 9.3% comprise various other file formats.
As per the latest evaluation, there are currently over 12,494,695 Ordinal inscriptions associated with the Bitcoin blockchain. This ongoing trend has led mempool.space to document over 300,000 pending transactions that are still awaiting validation.
On Saturday, Bitcoin miners confirmed these transactions along with others totaling $46.10 million in traditional financial transfers, amounting to 1,737.50 BTC. Just three days prior, on June 15, the total count of Ordinal inscriptions surpassed 12 million.
The latest available statistics indicate that 90.7% of all inscriptions are text-based, while the remaining 9.3% include other file types such as JPEGs, PNGs, SVGs, GIFs, videos, software, and applications. A considerable portion (11,259,647) of the total inscriptions consists solely of plain text.
Trading Volume Declines
Despite the increasing number of Ordinal inscriptions, the BRC20 ecosystem has faced significant challenges. Current data from brc-20.io shows there are 34,296 BRC20 tokens with a combined market capitalization of $141.97 million.
Recently, the recorded trading volume for BRC20 tokens has reached nearly $25.51 million. This Bitcoin-based cryptocurrency token economy was previously valued at close to $500 million. However, many leading BRC20 tokens have experienced substantial declines in value due to the prevailing bearish market conditions.
For instance, the price of one ordi (ORDI) token has fallen from $11.36 on June 3 to $6.263. Similarly, on June 3, the BRC20 token pepe (PEPE) was priced at $0.20, but it has since dropped to $0.050.
This month has seen a notable decrease in the market value of BRC20 tokens, even as the total number of BRC20 tokens has increased by over 38% since June 3.
