Key points:

  • The Ethereum Foundation has staked over 20,000 as part of a wider initiative to utilize its treasury assets.
  • This action builds on a strategy revealed in February to stake 70,000 ETH and leverage the resulting earnings to support operations, research, ecosystem growth, and grants.
  • The newly staked ETH is anticipated to yield 2.7%, a decrease from 3.4% earlier this year. The foundation retains approximately 147,400 ETH (about $303 million) in its treasury.

The Ethereum Foundation is intensifying its efforts to leverage treasury assets, with Arkham’s data indicating it staked over 20,000 ETH on Monday, thereby expanding its validator presence despite yields remaining below 3% and ether trading around $2,045.

Data from Arkham reveals that the transfers were organized into uniform amounts of approximately 2,047 ETH.

The deposits reinforce a strategy first detailed in February, when the foundation announced it would stake 70,000 ETH to generate income for operations. The initial phase began with a deposit of 2,016 ETH and positioned staking rewards as a funding avenue for research, ecosystem development, and grants, transforming long-held reserves into a consistent revenue source.

According to the CoinDesk Composite Ether Staking Rate (CESR), the foundation is expected to receive a 2.7% yield from its staked ETH, down from 3.4% earlier in the year.

Onchain data indicates that the Ethereum Foundation possesses an additional 147,400 ETH ($303 million) in its treasury.
