El Salvador plans to implement Bitcoin education in schools by 2024.

The Ministry of Education of El Salvador has collaborated with the non-profit organization Mi Primer Bitcoin/My First Bitcoin (MPB/MFB) to incorporate Bitcoin () education into the public school curriculum by 2024.

John Dennehy, the founder of MPB, confirmed to Cointelegraph that this initiative is a project of the Ministry of Education, with support from Bitcoin Beach.

The program “My First Bitcoin,” which awards students a diploma upon completion, will serve as the primary educational resource for the Bitcoin segment, according to Dennehy.

✨ What an inspiring vision! The future of El Salvador shines bright with plans to introduce Bitcoin education in every public school by 2024.
Together, we're making strides towards financial empowerment and knowledge for all. #BitcoinEducation #EmpoweringElSalvador https://t.co/oMkRqJFsTN

He mentioned that training for the pilot program is set to commence on Sep. 7, with support from Bitcoin Beach. The Bitcoin diploma initiative will be delivered to 150 public school teachers from 75 schools to equip them with a foundational understanding of Bitcoin.

“As the first nation to adopt Bitcoin, El Salvador will be an example for the world. Quality education is our best chance to ensure that that example is a positive one.”

Following the initial training, Dennehy stated that the teachers will return to their respective schools to instruct using the curriculum developed by the Ministry of Education. “If successful,” he noted, “the program will be expanded to every school in the country next year.”

“When My First Bitcoin began two years ago, one of the dreams was to educate a nation. This is a significant step toward that.”

In a recent discussion with Bitcoin Beach, community leader Roman Martínez informed Cointelegraph that over 25,000 students in El Salvador have already been educated about Bitcoin in the classroom.

Dennehy indicated that while El Salvador is the current focus, the goal is to extend Bitcoin education globally.

'El Salvador is leading the way with public Bitcoin education and we expect other nations to follow. The world is watching.

He shared with Cointelegraph that MPB is already in preliminary discussions with two additional governments in Latin America interested in adopting a Bitcoin education model similar to that of El Salvador for their local students.
