Crypto-supportive Vivek Ramaswamy Withdraws from 2024 US Presidential Election

Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, known for his pro-crypto stance, has exited the race for the United States presidency, concluding his campaign that lasted nearly a year.
During a press conference on January 16 in Des Moines, Iowa, Ramaswamy informed his supporters that he would cease his presidential bid, declaring: “As of this moment, we are going to suspend this presidential campaign.”
“There’s no path for me to be the next president absent things that we don’t want to see happen in this country.”

“An America first candidate is necessary in this race,” Ramaswamy continued, indicating that he would support former President Donald Trump in the forthcoming election.
“Moving forward, he will have my complete endorsement for the presidency. We did not achieve the surprise that we aimed to deliver tonight.”

Ramaswamy entered the presidential race as a relatively obscure figure but quickly gained traction within the crypto community due to his vocal policy proposals regarding Bitcoin and other digital currencies.
He was the sole presidential contender to present a crypto policy framework.
On November 16, he introduced “The Three Freedoms of Crypto,” which aimed to protect crypto developers from liability for the actions of users of their code.
Moreover, he stated that the policy would establish clear regulatory standards for new cryptocurrencies and prevent any federal agency from imposing restrictions on the use of self-hosted wallets.
On December 6, 2023, Ramaswamy criticized the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and its Chair, Gary Gensler, for their inadequate response to crypto regulation.
He remarked that it was “nothing short of embarrassing” that Gensler could not acknowledge before Congress that Ether (ETH) should be classified as a commodity.
