CoinShares Introduces Hedge Fund Sector Aimed at U.S. Investors

- The firm has introduced a new division named CoinShares Hedge Fund Solutions.
- Products from CoinShares Hedge Fund Solutions will be offered to qualified U.S. investors.
In light of the stringent regulatory environment for cryptocurrencies in the U.S., prominent European crypto asset management company CoinShares is establishing a hedge fund division. The announcement was made on September 22, indicating that it will start providing its services to accredited investors in the United States for the first time.
To address the demand for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency-related products, the firm has created a new division called CoinShares Hedge Fund Solutions.
Lewis Fellas, the head of CoinShares Hedge Fund Solutions, remarked:
“Crypto is full of fleeting promises and momentary successes along the pathway to mass adoption.”
Bridging the Gap
Due to the constantly evolving nature of associated risks, he further noted that the requirements of institutional crypto investors are continually changing. A representative from CoinShares stated that the new hedge fund officially commenced operations in August 2023. The spokesperson mentioned that Lewis and his team have been developing strategies and refining the platform since January.
Additionally, the new investment solutions provided by the hedge fund division aim to connect institutional investors with the digital asset market. The announcement made general references to a range of crypto products that will soon be accessible in the United States.
Products from CoinShares Hedge Fund Solutions will be promoted to qualified U.S. investors through CoinShares Capital. This entity is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CoinShares and operates as a broker-dealer licensed by the United States Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. The firm launched its first Bitcoin-based ETP in 2015 and its first Ether-based ETP in 2017.
