Tongyi Qianwen, which means “truth from a thousand questions,” is an AI language model capable of drafting invitation letters, planning vacations, and offering beauty product suggestions to consumers. This AI language model has been introduced by the Chinese technology leader Alibaba.
Initially, Tongyi Qianwen will be integrated into DingTalk, Alibaba’s workplace messaging application, where it will assist in summarizing meeting notes, drafting emails, and generating business proposals. The Tmall Genie, Alibaba’s voice assistant, will also receive an update to incorporate this feature.
Banking on AI as Dominant Future Tech
It has been reported that their chatbot can alternate between Mandarin and English. The Tmall Genie smart speaker series will utilize advanced AI speech recognition technology.
Technology “will bring about significant changes to the way we produce, the way we work, and the way we live our lives,” CEO Daniel Zhang stated during the livestreamed event. He further noted that Tongyi Qianwen and other AI models signify a broader vision for making AI more prevalent in the future.
Beginning this Friday, clients of the Chinese internet giant’s cloud division will have the opportunity to register for access to Tongyi Qianwen and start developing extensive language models customized to their specific requirements.
The Cyberspace Administration of China has drafted guidelines indicating that while the government supports the advancement and distribution of this technology, all content generated must align with “core socialist values” and adhere to data security and personal information protection laws.
It also cautioned that offenders could face criminal charges and financial repercussions. There is considerable concern regarding the ethical ramifications of generative AI technology, as well as its effects on national security, employment, and education.
