Key points:

  • Canary Capital launched SUIS, the inaugural spot sui ETF that incorporates staking rewards.
  • The fund offers direct exposure to the price of sui while accounting for net staking income in its NAV.
  • This initiative broadens the array of proof-of-stake tokens entering regulated ETF frameworks.

Canary Capital introduced a U.S.-listed spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) featuring staking, enhancing the intersection between proof-of-stake networks and conventional investment instruments.

The Canary Staked SUI ETF (SUIS) aims to mirror the spot price of sui, the native cryptocurrency of the Sui layer-1 blockchain, while participating in the network’s proof-of-stake validation mechanism. Net staking rewards are included in the fund’s net asset value (NAV), granting investors exposure to both price movements and on-chain yield within a registered ETF framework.

The token is the foundation of the Sui Network, a blockchain developed by former Meta engineers involved in the unsuccessful Diem digital currency initiative. The network has established itself as a platform for consumer-oriented applications, encompassing decentralized finance (), gaming, and digital marketplaces.

The listing contributes to an expanding collection of crypto ETFs that extend beyond bitcoin and ether, reflecting the efforts of issuers to package emerging layer-1 networks for both institutional and retail investors. By directly integrating staking into the fund, SUIS also evaluates regulators’ acceptance of yield-bearing crypto products within traditional structures.

The listing comes alongside Grayscale’s Sui Staking ETF (GSUI) debut on NYSE Arca, which had previously been traded on the OTC Markets’ OTCQB.

For those seeking exposure to sui without the need to manage private keys or validator duties, ETFs provide a brokerage-based entry point with integrated staking rewards.
