The latest examination of Bitcoin Inscriptions indicates a notable rise in both activity and interest, a trend that has significant consequences for network efficiency and user expenses. From Aug. 10 to Nov. 6, 2023, the overall number of Bitcoin Inscriptions increased from 22.66 million to 38.27 million, with Text/BRC-20 inscriptions – which facilitate the inclusion of text or token data in transactions – expanding from 18 million to 32.7 million.

A remarkable rise in the daily generation of new inscriptions was observed on Nov. 5, jumping to 440,000 from merely 40,000 on Oct. 5. Additionally, the share of Text/BRC-20 transactions relative to the total volume surged to 62% on Nov. 5, a significant increase from the 10% recorded on Oct. 5, indicating a notable change in the nature of transactions being executed on the Bitcoin network.

Concurrently, Bitcoin’s mempool — the repository for all unconfirmed transactions – has experienced a marked increase in activity. The total transaction count in the mempool rose from 28,700 on Oct. 4 to 149,500 on Nov. 4. This significant expansion in the mempool’s size suggests that a greater number of transactions are pending confirmation and indicates a link to the rise in inscriptions.
