Tether Appoints Paolo Ardoino as Chief Executive Officer of USDT Stablecoin0

The issuer of the stablecoin, Tether, has designated Paolo Ardoino as its new CEO. Jean-Louis van der Velde, the previous CEO of the company, will transition to an advisory role to continue his involvement. Ardoino’s advancements in emerging sectors and his investments in Bitcoin have garnered positive recognition from the cryptocurrency community.

Paolo Ardoino was appointed Tether’s new CEO in an official announcement made on October 13. He will retain his current roles as CTO of Bitfinex and chief strategy officer of Holepunch. Ardoino will officially take on CEO responsibilities starting in December 2023, at which point Jean-Louis van der Velde will shift to a new advisory role.

Jean-Louis van der Velde stated:

“Paolo is exceptionally qualified to guide Tether into this promising new phase. I am confident that Tether is set to maintain its swift growth, with an ongoing emphasis on emerging markets and innovative technology.”

Strategic Decision

Paolo Ardoino communicated the news to the crypto community via Twitter. Prominent figures in the digital asset sector, such as Tron’s founder Justin Sun and VanEck’s Gabor Gurbacs, extended their congratulations. The announcement indicated that this is a strategic decision aimed at better aligning with Tether’s long-term objectives. With Ardoino leading, Tether can enhance its market position and explore new opportunities.

After three years at Bitfinex, Ardoino joined Tether in 2017 as its chief technology officer. Beginning in 2020, Tether’s (USDT) market capitalization started to grow significantly, ultimately reaching $83.5 billion.
