Binance and Coinbase, the top cryptocurrency exchanges, are encountering heightened regulatory scrutiny as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) intensifies its enforcement actions against them. Recently, the SEC initiated a lawsuit against these prominent cryptocurrency firms. The SEC’s actions against Binance and Coinbase have adversely affected the tokens of the emerging ecosystems, SOL and MATIC, leading to a market capitalization decrease of approximately 25%.

According to DeFiLlama, Solana’s total value locked (TVL) was recorded at $253.26 million on June 26th, while Polygon’s TVL reached $944.15 million. Allegations have been directed at Binance and Coinbase, asserting that they functioned as securities exchanges without the necessary registration with the SEC, thereby breaching legal obligations. Binance is also facing additional accusations regarding the misappropriation of customer funds to an unrelated enterprise.

The SEC has filed a lawsuit asserting that Solana, Polygon, and various other cryptocurrencies should be categorized as securities. Importantly, these coins, which encompass both well-established entities and newer gaming-focused projects, possess substantial market capitalizations in the multi-billion dollar range.

As reported by CoinMarketCap, SOL is currently priced at $16.94, with a trading volume of $249,339,490 over the past hour. In the last 24 hours, SOL has experienced a 1.90% decrease in its trading value. Additionally, MATIC is valued at $0.6623, with a 24-hour trading volume of $249,452,661. Over the past day, MATIC has recorded a decline of 1.56% in its trading value.
