- The bail for house arrest of Terra co-founder Do Kwon was revoked despite having been approved.
Facing indictment and scrutiny from U.S. federal authorities, Terra co-founder Do Kwon has engaged one of the largest law firms globally, Dentons. Kwon has sought representation from Dentons on multiple occasions to address subpoenas and lawsuits.
The bail for house arrest of Terra co-founder Do Kwon was revoked after prosecutors raised concerns about flight risk and the bail amount in his passport fraud case in Montenegro. Kwon has enlisted the Dentons legal firm to assist him in ongoing litigation and investigations in the United States as discussions regarding his extradition intensify.
Dentons is recognized as the largest law firm by the number of attorneys it employs, ranking sixth on the 2023 list of global legal firms. In February, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission initiated a lawsuit against Do Kwon and Terraform Labs for fraud and the sale of unregistered securities.
Both South Korea and U.S Want Do Kwon
Securities fraud, wire fraud, commodities fraud, and conspiracy were among the eight charges brought against Do Kwon by the United States District Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in March.
Do Kwon was previously represented by Dentons in a class action lawsuit in the Singapore High Court in 2022 and in a challenge to a subpoena issued by the U.S. SEC during its investigation into Mirror Protocol in 2021. The legal firm also represents Terra in other ongoing litigation.
Authorities in South Korea are preparing to extradite Do Kwon, with prosecutors indicating they possess additional cases and evidence against him. Both the U.S. and South Korea are seeking Kwon’s extradition.
